Text Box: Quicksand

The way I see you
is large and pale.
All objects moving into you
are accepted,
measured by displacement.
Anybody
moving into you
is filled
through the mouth and nose.
You flow into
and surround them
like water
choking
displacing
the air in their lungs
with yourself
until
what they breathe
becomes you.
You are a pool
which the body falls into
sinking
the heart being heavier
falls out of the body,
drops past it
like a stone.
The way I see you
is something to walk
a wide circle around.
